Course - AM2E v1

AM2E v1

AM2E v1 is the latest version of the AM2E for those who have completed the experienced worker course. This updated version was introduced to align the assessment with the revised apprenticeship standards. Any candidate registered for the Experienced Worker Assessment (EWA) on or after 04 September 2023, will be on the AM2E v1 assessment, which ensures that their final practical evaluation is current with the latest industry benchmarks and requirements.

Who is the course for?

The AM2E v1 is for experienced electricians who are completing the Experienced Worker Assessment (EWA) route and registered on or after 04 September 2023. It is the latest version of the final practical assessment, specifically designed to align with the most recent apprenticeship standards, and is required for candidates on this new registration pathway. If you registered for the EWA before this date, you would be assessed on the previous version of the AM2E.

It can only be taken once you have gained the Experienced Worker Qualification – you will have to supply proof of this qualification before you can book the assessment together with other mandatory documentation as below.

If you are considering taking the Experienced Worker Assessment please read this important notice.

If you have non-UK qualifications, you can only take the AM2E as the final step in the EWA process – it cannot be taken on a stand-alone basis. Please read the guidance on the ECS website.

The extent of your AM2E Assessment will depend on if you already have gained an AM2 certificate in the past:

  • If you already have AM2: you will only need to take an AM2E supplementary unit – find out more

To sit your supplementary unit please visit our Re-sits page.

  • If you do not hold AM2: you will need to take the full AM2E assessment.
